Raising Contractor… Page Under Development

As earlier stated, LCDC had engaged M/s. Muhammad Jamil & Co., (Pvt) Ltd. as Raising Contractor to carry out underground development / operation works according to mine design and plans approved by LCDC. As per present contract and also the earlier one, total investment on development / operation of mines has been made the raising contractor. Total 95 mines were developed through the raising contractor in 4 blocks out of which 42 are operational, 17 on development, while 36 have been closed due to various reasons. Each operational mine has capacity of producing 50 tonnes per day (average) if so required. In this way, the developed mines have total daily capacity of approximately 2000 tonnes against which a very limited quantity is being produced due to abnormally low demand of WAPDA and also low open market demand.

LCDC also engaged M/s. M. Nisar Khan, through open bidding, as transport (including loading & unloading) contractor for supply of coal from LCDC mines in Lakhra coal filed to thermal power plant at Khanote. The contractor has engaged sufficient number of self-dumping 15 tonnes capacity trucks and front-end loaders to ensure that any quantity of coal required by WAPDA is transported to ensure smooth operation of thermal plant.
